Terms of Use
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Dogether (the “Service”), including the mobile application and related websites operated by us (“Dogether,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
By creating an account, signing in, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. The Service
Dogether provides tools for trust-based accountability between two users on a shared board, including invitations, roles, tasks, proof submission, review, points, and incentives.
The Service relies on trust between participants. It is not a forensic verification, identity-verification, or law-enforcement system. We do not guarantee that any task proof is accurate, complete, or authentic.
2. Eligibility
You may use the Service only if:
- You are at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your country to use online services without parental consent, if higher)
- You can form a binding contract under applicable law, or you use the Service with a parent or guardian as required
- You are not barred from using the Service under applicable law or app-store rules
If you use the Service on behalf of someone else, you represent that you have authority to accept these Terms for them.
3. Accounts and sign-in
You may sign in with Google Sign-In and/or Sign in with Apple. You are responsible for:
- Keeping your device and provider account secure
- Activity that occurs under your Dogether account
- Providing accurate profile information (such as username and nickname) and keeping it up to date
You must not share your account, impersonate others, or create an account for anyone other than yourself without permission.
We may refuse, suspend, or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or create risk for other users or the Service.
4. User content
“User Content” means content you submit or generate through the Service, including board names, tasks, text proofs, comments, incentive details, reports, and profile display information.
You retain rights you already have in your User Content. You grant Dogether a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, process, transmit, display, and otherwise use User Content solely as needed to operate, secure, improve, and provide the Service to you and your board partner.
You represent that you have all rights needed to submit User Content and to grant this license, and that your User Content does not violate law or these Terms.
Board content is shared with your board partner. Do not submit information you are not comfortable sharing with that person.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for unlawful, harmful, threatening, harassing, abusive, exploitative, or discriminatory purposes
- Upload or share content you do not have the right to share, including others’ personal data without a lawful basis
- Submit false reports, spam, malware, or content that infringes intellectual property or privacy rights
- Attempt to access another user’s account, scrape the Service, reverse engineer non-public parts of the Service, or disrupt our systems
- Misuse invitations, roles, reviews, points, or incentives to coerce, blackmail, or harm others
- Use the Service if you are under the permitted age
We may remove content, limit features, or suspend or terminate accounts for violations.
6. Safety, reporting, and enforcement
The Service includes tools to report a board partner for abuse or policy concerns. We may review reports and take action we consider appropriate, including warnings, content removal, suspension, or termination. We are not obligated to take action on every report and do not guarantee a particular outcome.
You are responsible for your interactions with your board partner. If you feel unsafe, stop using the shared board and seek appropriate help outside the Service when needed.
7. Third-party services and app stores
The Service depends on third parties, including Google, Apple, hosting providers, and push-notification services. Your use of those services is also subject to their terms and privacy policies.
Purchases, refunds, and billing related to the Apple App Store or Google Play (if any) are handled by those stores under their rules. The current Service does not require in-app purchases for core MVP features; if that changes, additional terms may apply.
8. Intellectual property
The Service—including software, branding, and our original content—is owned by Dogether or its licensors. Except for the limited license to use the Service as allowed under these Terms, no rights are granted to you.
You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or create derivative works from our software or branding except as permitted by law or with our prior written consent.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that User Content (including proofs and reviews) will be accurate or reliable.
10. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, DOGETHER AND ITS OPERATORS, AFFILIATES, AND SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR (B) USD 50.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law.
11. Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Dogether and its operators from claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your User Content, your use of the Service, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.
12. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Service at any time and may request account deletion as described in the Privacy Policy.
We may suspend or terminate access immediately if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends. Provisions that by nature should survive (including Sections 4, 8–11, 13–15) will survive.
13. Changes to the Service and Terms
We may modify or discontinue features of the Service. We may update these Terms by posting a revised version on this page and updating the “Last updated” date. If changes are material, we may provide additional notice in the app or by other reasonable means. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Hong Kong, excluding conflict-of-law rules, unless mandatory consumer-protection laws in your country of residence require otherwise. Courts in Hong Kong shall have non-exclusive jurisdiction, without limiting any non-waivable rights you may have as a consumer.
